Senior Auditor

The Senior Auditor should exhibit the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related degree
  • Current CPA license or CPA eligible
  • Knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations, and code of professional conduct of AICPA
  • Proficient with preparing financial statements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assurance engagements

Senior Staff Accountant

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you’ll be responsible for ensuring successful completion of accounting responsibilities from start to finish. You have a solid understanding of professional standards and can apply firm principles to to ensure standards are met. You’re focused on your professional development and growth and have a willingness to take on and own challenging assignments. You can complete projects with a high level of quality within established deadlines and time budgets.

Day-to-Day Work includes:

  • Obtaining and reviewing all relevant information from client to ensure reports and conclusions are accurate and well-documented
  • Preparing financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows
  • Managing daily activities and procedures performed by staff level associates
  • Developing programs, checklists, and work plans and approaches to completing client deliverables
  • Participating in networking meetings to expand business relationships in the community
  • Supporting implementation of special projects to improve the department and the firm


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in professional service role
  • CPA or progression towards securing CPA required
  • Knowledge of GAAP and/or IRS regulations is required
  • Working knowledge of relevant computer applications including Microsoft Applications

Staff Accountant

Public accounting experienced preferred and this position will work in close association with senior staff and managers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Produces accurate client deliverables prior to deadlines and within time budget
  • Determines client information needed to complete projects, requests information from clients and ensures information is received
  • Follows and understands project plans, checklists and templates to complete procedures
  • Understands basic technical concepts and applies those concepts to specific clients to complete projects
  • Prepares financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Statement of Cash Flows
  • Prepares client income tax returns and related schedules for individuals, partnerships, S-Corps and C-Corps
  • Performs self-review of work, draws conclusions and discusses with responsible staff
  • Receives client requests, communicates, and discusses with responsible staff
  • Conducts basic technical research and applies information to specific client situations
  • Obtains basic understanding of the client’s business and completes the deliverables and projects assigned to support their business

Tax Manager

As a Senior Tax Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing client engagements and directing staff.

Day-to-Day Work includes:

  • Maintaining client relationships and building new ones
  • Reviewing engagement realization reports, completing client billing and implementing changes to engagement processes and approaches to improve profitability
  • Performing and overseeing technical research including identification of topics to research, assigning research to team members and summarizing research for clients
  • Completing, overseeing, and reviewing significant projects and procedures for various clients
  • Reviewing complex client issues and working with engagement team to identify solutions and determine recommended approach
  • Directing staff in establishing engagement plans and approaches and implementing adjustments and ensuring all firm standards are met


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Business Degree required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in professional services role
  • CPA or advanced degree
  • Experience managing client engagements, engagement teams and staff
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and/or IRS regulations is required
  • Experience completing complex technical research and publishing technical articles
  • Business development experience including previous history of securing new clients

Tax Professional

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of current public accounting with experience in corporate partnership and individual taxation
  • Outstanding client service traits
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Tax Processor

As a Tax Processor, you’ll be responsible for supporting the tax team in preparation to send out client tax returns.

Day-To-Day Work Includes:

  • Working on backend tax processing and preparing materials to be sent to clients
  • Supporting tax staff in an administrative capacity


Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work overtime as needed, depending on tax deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Tax Specialist

As a Tax Specialist, you’ll be responsible for preparing and processing client tax returns. Whalen services clients in a variety of industries and also services individual clients.

Day-To-Day Work Includes:

  • Preparing client 1040 returns
  • Preparing client business returns


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Similar Field Recommended
  • 2+ years experience in similar accounting/professional services related role
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and/or IRS regulations required
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant computer applications including Microsoft Office

Seasonal Tax Preparer

Desired Skills & Experience:

A great opportunity to work 3 months out of the year for a growing, local CPA firm in Worthington! We are looking for preparers of individual tax returns and/or corporate tax returns. We are seeking tax preparers to start in early February and work through the April 15th tax season.

Requirements include 5+ years of tax experience with excellent technical ability and client service traits.
